How to Give Your Bookkeeper Access Safely (Without Sharing Passwords)
A remote bookkeeper needs to see your accounts. They do not need your passwords. Here's how Linked-do-Books handles access, step by step, and what you should never send.
The rule: share records, never credentials
Never send QuickBooks or Xero passwords, bank logins, bank credentials, tax IDs, Social Security numbers, full payment-card numbers or other sensitive accounting credentials through a contact form, chat or email. Public forms are for introductory information only.
How access works instead
For QuickBooks, Xero, Shopify, Stripe, PayPal or another platform, you invite Linked-do-Books inside that platform as an accountant, user or authorized collaborator. You keep your own login, and you can remove the invite later.
Documents such as statements or receipts go through Linked-do-Books' designated upload page, and only when you're directed to use it. There's no login-protected client portal on the website.
What happens after you sign up
- Start with a short conversation. Use the contact form to explain what you need without attaching records, or call (406) 500-5242. New inquiries are generally reviewed within one business day.
- Review your next-step email. After you book or purchase, you get a follow-up and your Client Services Agreement. It lists the agreed scope, first requests, access needs and deliverables. If your books are behind, Books Clean-Up may come before monthly work.
- Share records and invite access. Send documents through the designated upload page when asked, and invite access inside each platform.
- Settle into a steady rhythm. Ongoing clients get a monthly status update with completed work, open questions and reviewed reporting once the records for the period are ready.
What to have ready by service

|---|---|
| Monthly bookkeeping | The records and platform access listed in your agreement |
| Books Clean-Up | Backlog records for the agreed scope |
| E-commerce bookkeeping | Store and payment-platform access, plus payout, fee, inventory and channel records for the monthly close |
